The college has introduced a new media of e-learning through the National Programme on Technology Enhanced Learning. Students enthusiastically chose various courses available under the NPTEL portal (online courses.nptel.ac.in/) and completed 4, 8 and 12-week courses under their college mentors and overall supervision and support of Prof. R. H. Autade and Shri. Gulve. At the end of the course, through an online exam assessment was done and the eligible students were presented with certificates from prestigious IIT institutes. Prof. P. S. Gaikar and Prof. Autade R. H. received a certificate from IIT, Mumbai for encouraging students to appear for NPTEL e-Learning courses.

Get certified through IIT’s online courses: Today the education is not bound in just 50 sqm classrooms; it has crossed the boundaries of language and methods of teaching. The -next generation kids are very much skilled in operating computers and smartphones before they could utter their first world. The internet has simplified everything, gone are the days when the 80 % attendance was compulsory for yawing classes. Now the biggest revolution in the education industry is self-study anytime anywhere, and the knowledge is free.
A diverse interactive platform has been provided by NPTEL (National Programme for Technology Enhanced Learning) in the field of online education in India and it is joint venture of the five IITs (Bombay, Delhi, Kanpur, Kharagpur, and Madras) and IISc, funded by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India. Students, teachers, and working professionals can take advantage of online courses and certification in various topics. NPTEL is the world’s largest curriculum-based content repository with hundreds of courses in video formats prepared by the experienced staff under Engineering, Science, and Humanities stream discipline. Courses are offered under following listed sub-discipline.
The complete list of about 1000 plus courses is made available on the website https://onlinecourses.nptel.ac.in and anyone with a google account can register for the courses as this site needs user’s Gmail account for authentication. You will need to log in (top right) to enrol for any course by clicking the “Join” button. Once the registration is done the user able to see the course content timely uploaded by the course instructor and it includes videos and PPT, MS Word or PDF files. Online courses are free for all and with nominal fees. For more information visit http://nptel.ac.in/.
Lectures can be viewed on YouTube links provided on the course home page, and registered candidates for that particular course can watch or download the content of the lecture as per their convenience. Each course is time bound for a specific duration (4 weeks – 12 Hours, 8 weeks – 20 Hours & 12 weeks – 30 Hours). After completion of each module of course, at the weekends, students would have to attempt assignment as an evaluation exercise. These assignments will comprise of objective type questions to access the student’s understanding of the modules studied. Each of this assignment would be calculated on a scale of 10 marks. At the end of the course, the marks obtained from these assignments would account for 40% of the total weightage of marks obtained while the remaining 60% would comprise of the marks obtained by the students in the final written exam conducted in the different centre in major cities. The discussion forum is created by the course coordinator for solving the queries of the registered candidates and receives a regular reply through email. All successful candidate gets a hard copy of the NPTEL certificate by post, and one can download the soft copy of the certificates from http://nptel.ac.in/noc/.
NPTEL is attempting to connect better with colleges through the establishment of NPTEL study centres. More information about this can be found on http://nptel.ac.in/LocalChapter/ website. The NPTL project is being run with the goal as to make the counties best teachers available to a large number of students especially from rural background who will have access to quality content from them and it is free of charge. These courses are beneficial to students to a large extent but also very useful for mid-career professionals and teachers for upgrading their skills and knowledge through peer-reviewed course contents designed by the IITs and other renowned government educational institutes.
The new dimension in agricultural education:
AgMOOCs (Agriculture Massive Open Online Courses) a novel initiative is being flourished under the umbrella of the NPTEL. A consortium of three institutes- NPTEL, Indian Institute of Technology-Kanpur, and Commonwealth of Learning is designing the AgMOOC courses specially designed to update the students and faculties of State Agricultural Universities, working as Subject Matter Specialists, researchers, extension personnel, human resource involved in rural development and in private sector professional serving farmers.
